Sun Sets at View Boston: A Summer of Sky-High Soundtracks

There is something about watching the sun drop behind the Boston skyline from 750 feet up, cocktail in hand, and bass vibrating through the rooftop that makes a regular Saturday night feel like the highlight of summer. 

That was the magic of Sun Sets at View Boston. Every Saturday night from June 6 through September 5, Big Night Entertainment Group, New England’s premier hospitality and nightlife company, took over the 51st floor open-air roof deck and transformed it into a sky-high music venue. The series featured renowned DJs, craft cocktails, panoramic city views, and a dance floor perched 750 feet above the heart of Boston. 

And now, as summer fades into fall, it is time to look back at a season that soared. 

Costa Kicked It Off: June 6 

The series launched on June 6 with the one and only DJ Costa, and he set the tone for the entire summer. Costa is a Big Night Entertainment Group resident, known for spinning at Kiss 108, The Grand, and Memoire. He delivered an infectious, live house music set tailored perfectly for an elevated twilight dancefloor, and the energy was electric from the first track. 

From the opening night, Sun Sets became the place to be on a Saturday night in Boston. The open-air roof deck was packed, the cocktails were flowing, and the sun was setting perfectly over the skyline.

The Summer Lineup: Saturday Nights on the 51st Floor 

Week after week, a rotating cast of top-tier DJs took the decks, each one bringing their own sound and energy to the rooftop:

The White Party: Costa Returns on July 11 

Midway through the summer, Costa returned for a special Rooftop White Party on July 11. Crisp, all-white summer attire was highly encouraged, and the crowd delivered. The 51st floor looked like a cloud floating above the city, 750 feet up, glowing in the golden-hour light. Costa delivered another incredible set, and the White Party became one of the most talked-about nights of the summer.

The DJs Who Made It Move 

The Sun Sets series showcased some of the best talent in the region’s nightlife circuit, and a few DJs left their mark on the rooftop: 

A V D R E Y played two sets across the summer (June 13 and August 15), and both were standout nights. One of the region’s premier rising talents, she’s known for delivering infectious house and tech-house grooves at top nightlife destinations like Memoire and The Grand. Her high-energy, deep-groove summer sets provided the perfect backdrop as the sun went down over Back Bay. 

RIVAS took over on July 18 and brought the deep house and tech-house heat. Boston’s own, RIVAS is known across the region’s premier nightlife circuits, including resident spots at Memoire and The Grand. His elevated twilight soundtrack kept the high-altitude dance floor moving as the sun dropped behind the skyline. 

Breakbones closed out August on the 29th with a set that brought the heavy energy, setting the stage for the season finale the following week. 

Carlucci, Chalant, Don Daft, Different Font, Charley Blacker, and Dew Galvin b2b Jake Jordan all delivered unforgettable rooftop sets throughout the summer, each one adding a new chapter to the Sun Sets story.

Costa Closed It Out: September 5 

It was only fitting that the DJ who kicked it all off would be there to close it out. On September 5, Costa returned to the 51st floor one last time to close out the Sun Sets series with a second white party, closing out a summer of sky-high soundtracks with his signature house music energy. The finale was a full-circle moment. The same rooftop, the same DJ, the same panoramic views, but a whole season of memories in between.

The View From 750 Feet Up 

What made Sun Sets more than just another DJ series was the setting. The 51st floor at View Boston is 750 feet above the city, an open-air roof deck with 360° panoramic views of Boston. Every Saturday night, guests watched the transition from golden hour to city lights, cocktail in hand, and music pumping while overlooking the beautiful city of Boston.

What Comes Next 

Sun Sets may be over for the season, but the beloved views are not going anywhere. View Boston is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM; and Stratus Rooftop Bar is still pouring signature cocktails on the 51st floor, 750 feet above the city. 

As fall rolls in, the rooftop takes on a whole new energy. The air gets crisp. The light turns golden. The city starts to glow a little differently.
